Fish various species of trout, salmon, and char while enjoying delicious meals and natural hot springs.

Located in the southeastern region of Hokkaido, Tokachi boasts incredible sceneries surrounded by untouched nature composed of Daisetsuzan National Park, Akan National Park, and Hidaka Sanmyaku-Erimo Quasi-national Park. The Tokachi river system, which flows out of the deep mountain wilderness of these national parks, is widely admired as the mecca of trout fishing in Japan.

There are various species of trout, salmon, and char thriving together in this Tokachi area: native species like hucho perryi, chum salmon, cherry salmon, yamame, white spotted char and dolly varden; and non-native species like rainbow trout and brown trout. Most of them are beautiful wild species and reproduce naturally by themselves. We strongly recommend catch and release for all these species to sustain this well-balanced natural ecosystem.

How to get there

40 minutes by bus from Tokachi Obihiro Airport to Obihiro Station, or 2 hours and 40 minutes by highway bus from New Chitose Airport to Obihiro Station, then about 30 minutes by car. (Travel time may vary depending on the fishing spot)
